Where have I been lately? From the Deep South to the North Country

First of all, is Texas Deep South? Probably not... Southwest? That doesn't seem right. I'm sure someone will correct me.

After the work trip to Miami and Austin, I was home for 2 days and then packed up the car and the family to head up to the North Country for my birthday weekend. We usually stay in Jackson, NH or the North Conway area, but this time we stayed at Mittersill Alpine Resort, overlooking Cannon Mountain in Franconia, New Hampshire.

On Saturday we were graced with 40F weather and the largest crowds Cannon saw all year! It was truly a wonderful Spring skiing day. In the afternoon the temps dropped and it actually started snowing hard. Bye bye bluebird skies, hellooo frigid temps! I couldn't believe how cold it would get over the next few days!

Despite the freezing temperatures, we still had beautiful sunny skies so that helped a bit. But damn. It was cooooold and I'm still not over that. Especially when you expect March to be a little more tolerable than January. Heck, I'd even take temps in the mid-20's! It's better than 3F.

Now we're home and it feels warmer but WHEN are we going to shake these cold temps?? I even made myself wear flats today because high 30's are as good as we're going to get! Actually, I just did my own fact checking and it looks like we have some 50's on the calendar! Wooooooo. I might even get to break out my new birthday trench coat!
