Saturday Rambles: Coastal Growers Farmers Market at Casey Farm

This morning, after my 8 am Dentist appointment (what was I thinking), I drove down Rt 1 to Casey Farm for the weekly Coastal Growers Farmer's Market. Since we moved back to Rhode Island last September we've been a few times in the Fall, once in the Winter, and now once again now that the Summer session has started up again. I always have a little routine each time I go: Iced Chai from The Coffee Guy and tacos from Tallulah's Tacos of Tallulah on Thames. It's delightful.

Also on my shopping list (or wish list): Fresh oysters from Matunuck Oyster Bar, a beautiful bouquet from Robin Hollow Farm (really craving ranunculus today), Soap Nuts and Yore Balm from Yoreganics.

Also of note, it was freezing this morning! Still, that didn't stop my Mom from buying her Rhubarb Ginger Sorbet.

Grace and Daddy went to the zoo this morning but she was very jealous to hear that I had an encounter with two white billy goats. Totally jelly.

One of my favorite parts of the locale? From Casey Farm you can catch a glimpse of Narragansett Bay.

Grilled Shrimp Tacos with Lime Cabbage Slaw

"What do you want for dinner tonight?" my husband asks. "How about grilled shrimp tacos with a lime cabbage slaw?" I replied. Whoa, that's a great idea but where did it even come from? Truth be told, it was probably something I pinned 3 years ago and it just happened to be retrieved at that exact moment.

If you don't know my husband, he's a real stickler for recipes so I immediately Googled. You know what popped up? Shrimp Tacos with Lime Slaw. Perfect!

It was delicious! What you can't really see here is that behind the slaw is a delicious sauce of sour cream, chili powder, and chopped jalapenos. SO. GOOD.

5 Reasons Why I Love My New Favorite Sunscreen @Supergoop

Another Mom Must Have for you, just in time for summer! As you know, my Mom Must Haves are based on the products' own merits and not provided to me by the company (i.e. they didn't pay me to say this). I did recently receive another Supergoop product in my Birchbox (the serum), but I haven't even tried it yet. I will be sure to let you know how it works out!

♥ Why I Love It:
1. It's free of the yucky stuff (paraben, synthetic fragrance, and oxybenzone)
2. Lightweight and not greasy
3. Easy to apply and rub in
4. Wears great under your make up
5. Doesn't irritate my eyes when I start rubbing them by the end of the day!

Love it? You'll need the Supergoop Deluxe!

This Pin is Oddly Trending Right Now...

I was sort of surprised to see this pin get a large number of repins over the past few days.

The 3 G's for Father's Day (gadgets, golf, and grilling)

Father's Day is fast approaching and I've started to think of gifts for Grace to give my husband. Matt is a lucky man because Father's Day actually occurs about 2 weeks after his birthday so he's just raking in the gifts during June.

Without giving too much away (not that he reads his own wife's blog anyway...) I give you some amazing gifts that are sure to please the Father in your life! Not sure about yours but mine can be perfectly summed up with the Three G's - Gadgets, Golf, and Grilling.

Chalkboard Poster - Spring 2014

Spring is here! And now is the perfect time to share a Grace update! Let's face it, this post is for me (or various friend/family members who care) to look back on years from now and walk down memory lane.

It was also a good excuse for me to exercise my design muscles and work on a project in my Rhonna Designs app, which, by the way is one of my top 5 favorite apps! I smell a new post...

Where did I get this wonderful idea? From my fellow Blogger Mary of Tall Mom, Tiny Baby. Thanks for the inspiration! See her original post here:

100 Days of Ice Cream (or #100DaysofIceCream)

Ice Cream. It's magical isn't it? For someone who doesn't really love desserts, I'm always up for ice cream!
Apparently I passed that gene down to my little nugget in the pink jean jacket too!

The other night I had a special date with my Ice Cream Buddy at our local place Hill Top Creamery.
For Me: Chocolate with sprinkles and her: Crazy Vanilla.

You've heard of #100HappyDays I thought I would be clever and start my own #100DaysofIceCream but a few people beat me to it. Still doing it though.

Going out for Ice Cream really makes me feel like the Summer is almost here and I love that feeling!

Cheese Straw Update

Things have been a little wild around here lately but I wanted to give an update on my Cheese Straw Challenge from a few weeks ago. I made them for my Mom's Kentucky Derby party on May 3rd and they were a success! Let's not get carried away, they weren't perfect, but considering this was my first experience with puff pastry, they were tasty and that's what matters in the end, right? That being said, I underestimated the pastry's ability to "puff" and so I didn't give them enough space on the baking sheet. Will remember to let them breathe next time! Also worth noting... this recipe was really easy! I literally woke up from a nap (when Grace actually naps you better believe I do too) defrosted that puff pastry, got to work and was finished in about a half hour.

So what's next? Another challenge I guess! I have a number from my last post so I'll select the corresponding pin and bake/cook away!

Day Trip: Boston Children's Museum

We've been promising Grace a trip to Boston to see her Auntie Jess and Michael for a few months now. Every time they leave and go home to Boston (sometimes even on a train) Grace is super jealous and bugs me for two days about going to Boston. Jess and I had a photography class scheduled so we packed up the whole family (my Mom & Grandmother) on the Saturday before Mother's Day and headed up for the day.

Here's the lowdown:

Hours: Saturday - Thursday 10am -5pm Friday 10am-9pm
Admission: Adults $14, Children $15, Under 1 Free
Parking: Swear by this Boston Parking Finder (Also great if you're planning a trip to the Aquarium where you'll pay ~$40 to park! With this you can find lots for $10/day on the weekends).

Do More of What Makes You Happy

Easy. So I'll just endeavor to eat more ice cream this summer. If you insist.

Get the Look: Blush Heels

First make up, now heels. My two year old is becoming quite that fashionista! Actually, I should say first jewelry, then make up and now heels. I was getting dressed this morning when Grace starts rooting around in my closet and pulls out these blush open toe heels that I never wear. I'm just not a heel gal unless I have to. My feet are a mess from a time period post college where I only wore heels. Dumb. Don't do that Grace.
I particularly like how Grace has chosen to style these with a pink toed sock. Well played.

See those flats in the top right corner? Now we're talking! (also a phrase that Grace recently added to her repertoire)

Weekend in Review: Parties, Ponies, Slides and Sunshowers

We had a busy weekend full of parties, ponies, slides and topped it off with a sunshower!

We even crossed some much needed items off the to-do list (like street numbers...). I'll be happy when the pizza delivery guy doesn't have to be confused by note "we're the only house on the street without street numbers." It only took 5 months... what?

My Mom's Annual Kentucky Derby Party. A packed house for the race.
